The NFL didn't wait until midseason to show its true face this year.
During Week One, six games were decided by one- or two-point margins -- the most in any weekend in league history -- so what was your intrepid prognosticator's record in those games? You guessed it ... 2-4.
Those four losses -- by Arizona, the New York Jets, Carolina and Dallas -- were enough to drop what looked like an impressive week of picks down to a mere 10-6. That's the bad news.
The good news is if I can get double-digit wins every week -- and that will be tough during bye weeks when teams are off and there are less than 16 games on the schedule -- I can reach at least 170 wins and set a new personal best.
