Lost in the excitement during the build up to the Ravens' season opener was a note I found particularly interesting.
In a report from The Baltimore Sun, Ravens president Dick Cass noted renovations would be coming to M&T Bank Stadium. Renovations significant enough that neither the team nor the Maryland Stadium Authority would comment, deferring to an announcement they hoped to make later this fall.
The obvious renovation that has been suggested throughout the 18-year history of the stadium has been a roof. As I sat in Section 151 with the sun baking down on me Sept. 11, the roof wasn't far from my thoughts. The arguments for a roof are obvious. It makes the stadium weather proof, particularly significant in a city where oppressive heat, torrential downpours and blizzard-like conditions can all be experienced within the same football season.
