Baltimore Ravens rookie linebacker Matt Judon is doing something this season that isn't very common. He's one of three 2016 NFL Draft picks from an NCAA Division II football program (Grand Valley State). And while he knows his path is uncommon, he wants to make sure no one thinks he's a product of a "small school."
"My school is big as hell," Judon said. "We had 25,000 people. It was a pretty big campus."
Blame the interviewer for the faux pas. Don't blame the athlete for trying to avoid the "small school" stigma. Analysts across the country use the term annually while discussing NFL Draft prospects, essentially dismissing someone's accomplishments because they didn't occur at the highest level of college football.
