Maryland defensive coordinator Andy Buh was on the same Stanford staff as Terps head coach DJ Durkin from 2007-09, both working under Jim Harbaugh to rebuild a Cardinal program that won one game in 2006.
Buh was the linebackers coach in 2007 and the co-defensive coordinator in 2008 and 2009. Stanford improved to a four-win team in 2007, and by 2009, won eight games. Buh moved on to Nevada after that, and little did he know the relationship he built with Durkin would affect his career down the road.
After Scott Shafer stepped down from Maryland's defensive coordinator position this spring, Buh got the job. Buh and Durkin will debut their defense against Howard at Maryland Stadium Sept. 3, almost 10 years since the two men starting working together at Stanford.
