During the 21 seasons they spent in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, the Loyola Greyhounds were the league's dominant women's soccer program. Loyola won 10 league championships and made eight appearances in the NCAA tournament.
Since leaving the MAAC for the Patriot League after the 2012 campaign, the Greyhounds have struggled to reach the same level in their new home. But their best start since the 2009 season might be an indicator the Greyhounds are ready to make an upward move.
Loyola won its season opener Aug. 19, scoring the first three goals of the game to vanquish host Mount St. Mary's, 3-1. Two days later, the Greyhounds improved to 2-0 by posting a 2-0 shutout against visiting UMBC.
