A groundbreaking was held commemorating the initiation of construction on a new 41,600 square foot Circuit Courthouse for Queen Anne’s County in Centreville, Maryland. According to officials that spoke at the event, the courthouse will replace one of the oldest operating courthouses in the country, which was built in the late 1700s when George Washington was President of the United States. The Mullan Contracting Company was awarded the construction contract and expects to deliver the building in fall 2018.
Gregg Todd, Queen Anne's County Administrator speaks at the event. Joining him were Commissioner Mark Anderson, The Honorable Judge Thomas G. Ross and Scott MacGlashan, Clerk of Court.
The new two-story project was designed with a front exterior façade that resembles the previous building, and features a glass oculus window with the outline of an eagle. Queen Anne’s County has considered possible new designs and concepts for the structure since 2007.
