Upgrades Will Include Addition of Private-Dining Space
B&O American Brasserie announced today plans for renovations to the 4,500-square-foot restaurant that will include the addition of a new private-dining space.
“We are committed to providing memorable experiences and high-quality service to our customers,” said Chad Smith, director of operations for the Mid-Atlantic. “At B&O, we’ve seen the demand for private-dining, and we’re excited to soon be able to offer that option to our guests.”
The nearly $250,000 upgrade to the two-level restaurant will be led by designer David Hill of DH Design based in Los Angeles, CA and will stay true to the original design inspired by the Beaux Arts architecture of the former B&O Railroad Headquarters.
“The new design and narrative we are bringing to the restaurant is twofold,” said Hill. “It will offer a simplified, fresh appearance and a revised floor plan in order to optimize viewpoints, improve flexibility in seating capacity and achieve a more cohesive, sexier, approach hinting at the industrial revolution during the railroad industry. Brass accents, black leather and subtle lighting should evoke the craftsmanship and luxury of old rail cars without a literal context.”
Design enhancements will include upgrades to the restaurant’s décor, a fresh paint pallet of warm grey, new walnut finished tables, custom brass chairs, new barstools and a privately-screened dining space that seats up to 40 guests. Additionally, a deconstructed image from the railroad industrialization will be composed as a mural element and focal point to redefine the B&O dining experience in the upper level.
Renovations will begin in early September 2016, beginning with the second level, and are expected to be complete by mid-October. With the exception of a two- to three-day closed-door period, the restaurant will continue to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the B&O bar will remain open.
“We are working closely with the design team to ensure there is minimal impact on the dining experience for our guests,” said James Williams, general manager for B&O American Brasserie.
