For the first time in 2016, the Orioles have fallen to third place.
The Red Sox completed a two-game sweep of the Birds with a rain-shortened six-inning win Aug. 17 -- the first sweep for a visiting team in Baltimore this year -- to push the O's a game back of Boston and two back of division-leading Toronto in the American League East.
"It's been heating up since February," manager Buck Showalter said of the division race. "It is what it is. It's kind of what most people thought it would be in most cases. Most of them didn't include us, and we've got to keep doing some things to keep us engaged in it to have a chance in September. There's a lot of baseball to be played."
