BALTIMORE, MD (August12, 2016) – Cookie Cutters Haircuts for Kids, a national franchise chain that offers interactive haircut experiences for children, has selected York Hill Shopping Center in Lutherville as the site of its first location in the metropolitan region. Together with the signing of RC Hobbies, which is also entering theMaryland marketplace, the 12,000 square foot center located at 1510 York Road in Baltimore Countynear the intersection of York Road and Seminary Avenue is now 100% leased. Both leases combine for approximately 3000 square feet of space.

York Hill Shopping Center is owned and managed by Hill Management Services, Inc. In the RC Hobbies deal, Scott Vane of Hill Management represented the landlord and Mike Gioioso of MacKenzie Commercial Real Estate Services represented the tenant. Both retailers are expect to open this fall.

With more than thirty locations operating nationally, the Utah-based concept is designed with neon lights that help guide children to a playground where they spend time climbing and sliding prior to the haircut appointment time. The kids then have their choice of different “fantasy chairs” to sit in during the haircut, including firetrucks, airplanes and motorcycles. The store is equipped with televisions that allow the children to play video games or watch taped or live programming.

“Not all children like to get their haircut,” explained Neal Courtney, CEO of Cookie Cutters. “We are aware of this struggle and do all we can to make the experience one that they will want to have again and again, and discover how much fun a haircut can be.”

Brett Gustafsson and his brother Eric Gustafsson hold the franchise rights to Cookie Cutters in the local market place. They have worked with franchise operations such as Quizno’s, Hurricane Grill & Wings and Dryer Vent Wizard, “we fell in love with the concept and could not find anything like it. It fills a need in the Baltimore community.”

RC Hobbies is a national chain of retail stores that market remote-controlled cars, trucks, airplanes, helicopters, drones and boats. This location represent their first in the Maryland area. RC Hobbies is also planning a fall opening.

“One-of-a-kind retail concepts such as this one typically draws consumers and unique visitors from an extremely large radius, which benefits the entire tenant mix,” explained Danielle Beyrodt, Vice President of Hill Management Services. “We are extremely impressed with the previous franchise experience the Gustafsson brothers bring, and optimistic about the long-term prospects for Cookie Cutters in an area that has so many young families and children. It is gratifying to have been chosen as the inaugural Maryland location for both stores.”
