It was a wild weekend in MLB, with numerous trades occurring as teams try to improve down the stretch.
Instead of our usual "Three Up, Three Down" column to start the week, I wanted to take a look at two of the bigger trades that occurred and the fantasy implications the moves will have for the remainder of the season.
Washington Nationals Acquire Reliever Mark Melancon from the Pittsburgh Pirates -- In the latest waiver-wire column, I mentioned owners should follow the Nationals' closer situation, as there was a strong chance the team would make a move and demote Jonathan Papelbon. That is exactly what happened with the trade, as Melancon will take over the ninth and Papelbon will now be used in the eighth inning.
