New Hires Announced At Baltimore Magazine

Baltimore Magazine is pleased to announce the hiring of Sally Rich Furlong as director of integrated advertising and sponsorships, Megan Case as integrated account executive, Ron Hube as copy editor/research director, Danielle Dernoga as editorial design assistant, and the promotion of Stephanie Shafer to assistant art director.

Furlong had been a member of the Baltimore magazine advertising sales team for nine years, previously serving as an advertising sales executive before relocating to Washington, D.C. in 2011 to serve as the national sales manager for Washingtonian. She returns to the magazine as director of integrated advertising and sponsorships. In her new role, Furlong will direct sales activities for both print and digital platforms and provide sponsorship support for marketing activities undertaken by the company.

As integrated account executive for Baltimore magazine, Case will be responsible for developing custom advertising packages and digital programs for key accounts as well as overseeing marketing strategies and the execution of sales process. Case joins the team from Publisher’s Rep firm Executive Publishing, where she served as their advertising sales associate. Before Executive Publishing, Case completed a social media and marketing internship with Maria Linz Photography, giving her digital experience for her new role. Case holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication and multimedia journalism with a minor in advertising and marketing from Virginia Polytechnic Institute University.

Hube joins the magazine as copy editor/research director. Previously, he served as editor for University of Maryland, Baltimore and City Paper, as well as a freelance writer, copy editor and proofreader. Hube graduated from Towson University with a Bachelor of Science degree in mass communications and a minor in English.

A graduate of University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in graphic design, Dernoga is the new editorial design assistant for the magazine. Dernoga has gained valuable experience from working at Under Armour where she served as a graphic designer alongside the global environments team to design print elements for UA Brand House and UA Factory House stores nation-wide.

A recent graduate of Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), Shafer became a member of Baltimore magazine’s design team in January 2015, serving as the editorial design assistant. As the new assistant art director, Shafer will design layouts for features and regular sections of the magazine, assign photography and illustration, and assist the art department in ushering designed projects through the production process.
