When eventual Hall of Fame safety Rod Woodson came to the Ravens in 1998, he was already a graybeard by NFL standards.
This year, free-agent safety Eric Weddle brings to the Ravens the same experience level, field savvy and leadership ability Woodson did, only without the gray in his own prodigious beard.
Earlier in the offseason, Weddle went so far as to say he would dye his beard purple for home games, a clear indication his veins are as full of adrenaline as his face is of hair.
"It's feeling good," Weddle said of his beard, which he had shaved off earlier this year. "I'm just letting it grow. It's a lot more full this time around, which is nice. I haven't been wearing a chin strap for the last three months. It's coming in even.
