United Way of Central Maryland CEO Mark Furst is Stepping Down

The leader of the local chapter of the United Way is stepping down.

United Way of Central Maryland CEO Mark Furst is set to step down. Furst led the charity organization for 12 years. He is set to leave the top job in October to take the position of Senior Vice President of External Relations at the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore.

With the news, the United Way is launching a search for a new leader. The 91-year-old nonprofit is also looking to move its headquarters next spring. It was set to move into the new Stadium Square development in South Baltimore, but Baltimore Business Journal reported last week that the organization backtracked on that move and is instead targeting the Montgomery Park complex in Morrell Park.
