For the past five years, former Towson Catholic and Virginia Tech standout Malcolm Delaney played professional basketball overseas. But now, Delaney will get his chance to play in the NBA, after signing a two-year, $2.5 million deal with the Atlanta Hawks earlier this month.
Despite the fact that a basketball career enabled Delaney to travel to different countries, he said living conditions and travel accommodations sometimes made it difficult. However, he credited his upbringing in Baltimore for teaching him how to work hard and stay out of trouble off the court.
"Baltimore is a tough city to get out of," Delaney said July 14 on Glenn Clark Radio. "... Everybody already knows how tough it is to just make it out of the school system or to try and graduate and go to college.
