A return to Baltimore got the recently slumping Orioles back on track -- and back into first place in the American League East.
Buoyed by right-hander Dylan Bundy's first career win as a starter, the O's topped the Cleveland Indians, 5-1, during the first of a three-game series against the best team in the AL. Meanwhile, the Boston Red Sox lost to the Minnesota Twins, 2-1, which pulled the Orioles a half-game ahead for the top spot in the division.
For the Birds, Bundy delivered his longest major league outing during his first career start at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. After throwing 70 pitches during his starting debut July 17 in Tampa Bay, Bundy was extended to 87 pitches against the Indians, enough to give him the five innings he needed to qualify for the win.
"We were going to take him around 85 if Cleveland didn't solve him within those pitches," manager Buck Showalter said. "That's a really good offensive team over there, so that makes it even more impressive. He was good. He pitched as much as threw."
