Six games into the second half of the season, the Orioles barely resemble the team that bashed its way to the top before the All-Star break.
The Birds' once-prolific offense has sputtered to a dead halt during its road trip through Tampa Bay and New York July 15-20. The O's have scored 10 runs during their six games, including five consecutive games of two runs or fewer. By comparison, the O's didn't have a single game in the entire month of June in which they scored two runs or fewer.
The Orioles reached their nadir when they were blanked by the Yankees July 20, their fourth shutout of the season and their first since May 17. During the game, the O's went 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position and are now 3-for-33 (.091) in such situations since the All-Star break.
