Kevin Kelehan and Darren Burns

Kevin Kelehan and Darren Burns, partners with Columbia-based law firm Carney, Kelehan, Bresler, Bennett and Scherr LLP, were re-elected to the Section Council of the Construction Law Section of the Maryland State Bar Association for the 2016–2018 term.

Kelehan and Burns first joined the Section Council in 2012 and have been active as Council members or officers of the Construction Law Section since its inception several years ago. In addition, their partner, Daniel Scherr, continues in his current term on the Council.

The Section, with several hundred members, brings together Maryland lawyers who practice construction litigation or construction law related to contracts and real estate transactions and promotes members’ professional development through educational and social activities, including joint educational programs with other Maryland state bar sections and regional bar associations from neighboring states.

  • Kevin Kelehan practices real estate law, representing lenders and borrowers throughout the acquisition and development process. In addition, Kelehan has an active construction law practice, representing several of the region’s contractors, and serves as a resource to national firms for both local representation and government contracting projects.
  • Darren Burns focuses on litigation and contract matters, particularly those involving commercial and public school construction, administrative law, employment, contract, real property and cable/satellite piracy issues. In addition to litigation, Burns advises clients on business formation and contracts, and he handles regulatory matters before state and local agencies, including education, zoning and licensing issues.
