After being drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the eighth round of the 2013 amateur draft and spending the last four years in the minor leagues, first baseman Trey Mancini is now slugging his way to a possible late-season call up with the Birds.
During the middle of the 2015 season, the 24-year-old Mancini was promoted to play for Double-A Bowie. In 84 games with the Baysox, Mancini posted a .359 batting average with 29 doubles, 13 home runs and 57 RBIs. After an additional 17 games with Bowie in 2016, Mancini was promoted to Triple-A Norfolk. In 78 games with the Norfolk Tides, Mancini has continued his production at the plate with a .302 batting average, 15 doubles, 10 home runs and 34 RBIs.
Mancini said going up against more experienced pitchers at Triple-A has prepared him for when he takes the next step into Camden Yards.
