Tim O'Donohue didn't waste any time getting to his new job.
O'Donohue was hired as Navy's head men's soccer coach by athletic director Chet Gladchuk July 1, and the next day, he was in Annapolis, Md., preparing for a season opener that was less than eight weeks away.
"It would've been nice to have a spring season to get to know our guys," O'Donohue said. "But I've met a lot of the team, and they've been very welcoming. I was a head coach for 10 years, so it's not the first time I'm putting a preseason plan together. We have great resources here, and I have a good sense of what I want to accomplish."
O'Donohue left one of the nation's top Division I programs to come to Navy. As the associate head coach at the University of Connecticut, O'Donohue was an integral part of a program that was a regular participant in the NCAA tournament. The Huskies made three straight NCAA quarterfinal appearances from 2011-13 and won 68 games during his five-year tenure at the school.
O'Donohue will replace Dave Brandt, who left the Academy May 22 to become the head coach of the United Soccer League's Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
