An ESPN Insider column written by former Cincinnati Reds and Montreal Expos/Washington Nationals general manager Jim Bowden caught the attention of Orioles fans this week.
Bowden referenced a conversation he had with O's third baseman Manny Machado (for MLB Network Radio) during All-Star Game festivities in San Diego. During the conversation, Machado made clear his interest of staying in Baltimore with a long-term extension but passed along an interesting nugget.
"Manny Machado told me this week that his representatives at MVP Sports presented the Orioles with a long-term offer in spring training," Bowden wrote for ESPN, "and the team said it would get back to them. To date, it has not."
