Community Foundation of Howard County Names New Board Members, Officers

The Community Foundation of Howard County, which partners with donors to reach their philanthropic goals and raises, manages and distributes funds to support Howard County nonprofits, named new members and officers of the foundation’s board of trustees.

The foundation’s new board members include:

Daniel Medinger is owner and president of Advertising Media Plus, a full-service communications, media and development firm in Columbia. He lives in Ellicott City.

Peter Panepento is the principal of Panepento Strategies, where he practices strategic communications and marketing consulting. He lives in Columbia.

David Sciamarelli is a real estate advisor for MacKenzie Commercial, where he specializes in tenant representation and the sale and leasing of office properties. He lives in Elkridge.

Sue Song provides management and operational support for mental health centers in Baltimore and Baltimore County. She lives in Ellicott City.

Irene Thompson manages delivery system planning for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Mid-Atlantic States. She lives in Ellicott City.

In addition, the foundation’s new officers include Tara Brummell, senior vice president and private client manager for U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management, who became vice chair. Brian Eakes, managing director, head of finance and controller for Legg Mason, became treasurer. Nuala Duffy, former teacher at Swansfield Elementary School, became secretary.

The new officers will serve through the Community Foundation’s 2016-2017 fiscal year. Bruce Harvey, president and co-owner of Williamsburg Homes, will remain chair of the board.

The Community Foundation of Howard County, founded in 1969 as The Columbia Foundation, has awarded more than $14 million in grants to Howard County nonprofit organizations delivering human service, arts and cultural, educational and civic programs. Money for the grant programs comes primarily from income generated by the foundation’s endowment supported by more than 300 funds established by Howard County businesses, families and individuals.
