Given the starting rotation's struggles throughout the 2016 season, many fans and experts have weighed in on Baltimore Orioles right-handed pitcher Dylan Bundy making the transition from starter to reliever.
The idea is Bundy, who has seen steady improvement throughout the season, could take the place of struggling Orioles starter Ubaldo Jimenez. But CSN analyst and former Orioles outfielder Joe Orsulak thinks Bundy should stay in the bullpen for the remainder of the season.
"He's coming off arm surgery," Orsulak said June 10 on Glenn Clark Radio. "For the first part of the season, he was throwing 92, 93 [mph]. But now, obviously, his arm is 100 percent. He's throwing 96, 97 [mph]. Great curveball; great changeup. In a perfect world, you plug him right into the rotation as your No. 2 or 3 guy and go.
"But you can't do that because … he hasn't built the innings up. They're really prepping him as a starter for next year, so I don't think it's going to happen, or you're going to risk his future, which looks pretty bright to me right now. To try to stretch him into a possible starter to help the team win this year, I don't think it's going to happen."
