It doesn't officially count, but Baltimore Orioles lefty Zach Britton added another save to his 2016 ledger during the MLB All-Star Game July 12.
Britton closed out a 4-2 American League victory with a scoreless ninth inning at San Diego's Petco Park, capping the AL's fourth consecutive All-Star win.
Britton, who is a perfect 27-for-27 in save opportunities for the Orioles this year, was the last of 10 pitchers used by the AL squad, helmed by Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost. He gave up a leadoff single in the ninth to Washington Nationals second baseman Daniel Murphy, but then retired Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt on a fielder's choice comebacker to the mound. Britton ended the game and sealed the save by inducing a double-play grounder to third from Colorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado.
