Dane Rianhard
R. Dane Rianhard was elected to the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU) Board of Trustees as secretary at the 86th Annual Convention and Exhibition in Albuquerque, NM.
“We are pleased to welcome Dane as secretary of NAHU. NAHU and our members will benefit greatly from his legislative experience, involvement and leadership,” said Janet Trautwein, NAHU CEO.
Rianhard has over 26 years of experience in insurance and benefits planning. In 1999, he was a principal with FranklinMorris, a TriBridge founding firm, where he served as the director of group benefits. He went on to becoming a founding principal in TriBridge Partners, LLC, a brokerage and consulting firm with offices in Baltimore, Bethesda, and Hagerstown, MD.
Rianhard has been an active NAHU member since 2008. During his membership, he has served as the legislative chair and the past president of both the Baltimore Association of Health Underwriters and the Maryland AHU chapter. He also held the position as NAHU’s Region II vice president for four years. He has been recognized with the 2015 NAHU Distinguished Service Award and as the 2011 Maryland AHU chapter’s Person of the Year. Rianhard is also a HUPAC Capitol Club Contributor as well as a Golden Eagle qualifier of the Leading Producers Round Table.
He has been instrumental in working with Maryland’s Joint Legislative Committee (JLC), which is a joint interworking of Maryland AHU and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors for legislative issues in Maryland. Maryland’s JLC works intimately with its state’s lobbyist and is currently involved with legislative efforts in the state’s exchange formation. He has met numerous times with the state’s former acting insurance commissioner and with the newly appointed insurance commissioner.
“I believe our purpose is to ensure that NAHU agents are able to support their consumers and ensure that Americans are afforded the opportunity to secure the quality of their healthcare,” said Rianhard. “What we do, as health insurance agents, really does matter for the health insurance policyholder in this nation.”
Rianhard is a graduate of the University of Virginia with a B.A. in English and currently resides in Walkersville, MD, with his wife, Teresa Conto. Between them they are raising four girls between the ages of 12 and 15. He also enjoys being actively involved with his girls’ sports and extracurricular activities. He finds his peace through boating, running and fitness training, tennis and yoga.
