Boyle, M.D., a board-certified urologist and experienced surgeon in sexual health and reconstruction, has started performing gender reassignment surgery (GRS) for patients looking to transition from male to female gender. With many years of experience performing male and female genital reconstruction as part of her practice, Dr. Boyle has partnered with plastic surgeon Dr. Rachel Bluebond-Langner at The University of Maryland to perform these complex, delicate surgeries for the transgender patient population.

Gender reassignment: With a focus on male to female gender reassignment surgery, Dr. Boyle performs a one-stage procedure with the goal of achieving excellent vaginal depth and normal clitoral sensation to optimize sexual intimacy, as well as achieving a superior aesthetic outcome.

Dr. Boyle performs the one-stage procedure which includes:

  • Creating a neovagina (new vagina).
  • Orchiectomy or removal of the testicles (if the testicles are present).
  • Using the inverted penile skin and scrotal skin to line the vagina.
  • The nerves and blood supply to the glans are identified and preserved to provide for sensation and orgasm, and the clitoris is formed.
  • The clitoral hood, inner labia (labia minora) and outer labia (labia majora) are also created during this one-stage procedure.
