The Orioles got two key pieces of their roster back from the disabled list June 18, and both contributed to the Birds' 4-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays.
Right-hander Yovani Gallardo earned the victory in his first start since April 22, while shortstop J.J. Hardy went 1-for-3 with a double in his first game since May 1.
Gallardo, in his return from right shoulder bicep tendinitis, provided the Orioles' rotation exactly what they needed: a solid, workmanlike outing that kept the Birds in the game. He held the high-octane Blue Jays lineup to two runs in five innings, which doesn't fit the definition of a quality start but was practically a Cy Young outing in comparison to some recent outings by O's hurlers.
"I felt good," Gallardo said. "I made some pitches whenever I had to. It felt good to be out there once again and contribute. And we got the win, I think that's the most important thing."
