I am not a doctor, nor will I pretend to be, but there's no chance the diagnosis on Detroit Tigers outfielder J.D. Martinez is a good one. The outfielder collided into the wall and had to leave the game June 15 with a non-displaced fracture of the radial neck of his right elbow. We will find out exactly how long Martinez will be sidelined, but right now it's being labeled as indefinitely.
This is a tough blow for fantasy owners, as Martinez has a .287 batting average with 12 home runs and 39 RBIs for the season.
Waiver-Wire Targets:
Colorado Rockies Closer Carlos Estevez -- Estevez was named the closer after Jake McGee landed on the disabled list June 11 with inflammation in his left knee, and all Estevez has done this week is collect three saves. However, fantasy owners have already started their summer vacation, as the right-hander is only 32 percent owned in Yahoo! Sports leagues. We can debate players on the waiver wire and their value all day long, but there is always one rule when it comes to fantasy baseball: all closers must be on a roster. Don't make the mistake of not attacking Estevez now, as his ownership should shoot up soon. Estevez has 23 strikeouts in 22.1 innings pitched, so he has the ability to help in other categories other than just racking up saves.
