The Orioles wound up with a losing record during their seven-game road trip to Toronto and Boston June 10-16. But they'll still return to Baltimore June 17 sitting in first place in the American League East.
After their pitching staff got smacked around in Toronto, losing three of four games, the Orioles rebounded with a series victory in their first-place battle against the Red Sox. They saved their finest pitching performance for last, with right-hander Tyler Wilson tossing eight shutout innings in Boston for his longest and most successful major league start.
"We played real good defense," manager Buck Showalter told MASN. "They squared him up, I think, nine times. But good things seem to happen behind guys like him. Players like playing behind him. They know he'll be around the strike zone. That was fun to watch. He's a guy who's done nothing but win baseball games through his whole life."
