Unfortunately for tackle Eugene Monroe, the trade market was rather barren for his services.
As a result, his time with the Baltimore Ravens ended with his outright release June 15, even after head coach John Harbaugh stated the previous day that teams had at least "inquired" about him.
One of those teams is the New York Giants, who reportedly still have interest in signing him as a street free agent.
The release of Monroe spreads out the salary cap hit over a longer period of time ($2.2 million this year) since it came after the June 1 designation. His release is not surprising, considering the many elements working against him.
