Before the season began, many predicted the Baltimore Orioles would have a leaky starting pitching staff that would struggle to go deep in games, a powerful offense that could bail out the starting pitching and a shutdown back end of the bullpen.
A little more than one-third of the way through the season, those assumptions have turned out to be true: The Orioles' starters rank 26th in innings pitched (303.1) among big league starting staffs; the Orioles rank third in the majors in home runs with 80; and Zach Britton, Darren O'Day, Brad Brach and Mychal Givens have been a formidable quartet in the bullpen.
Tom Verducci, who was on the call for the Orioles' 8-6 loss to the Yankees for FOX Sports June 4, joined Glenn Clark and Drew Forrester on Glenn Clark Radio June 3 to discuss the Orioles and the rest of the American League East.
Verducci said the Orioles lack quality depth in the rotation and said right-hander Kevin Gausman has to be a difference-maker.
