Fresh off a triumph against Holy Cross during a tight three-game Patriot League championship series, the Navy baseball team is headed to its first NCAA tournament in five years. The Midshipmen, who earned an automatic bid by winning the conference title, will head south to play in the Raleigh, N.C., Regional.
Head coach Paul Kostacopoulos' squad, which is seeded fourth in the four-team double-elimination regional, will face host and top seed North Carolina State in a June 3 first-round matchup at Doak Field at Dail Park (7 p.m.), after second-seeded Coastal Carolina and third seed Saint Mary's (Calif.) open the tournament with a 2 p.m. clash.
On June 4, the first-game losers will meet in an elimination game at 2 p.m., while the winners tangle at 7 p.m. The second elimination game is scheduled for June 5 (1 p.m.), with the winner advancing to face the remaining undefeated team at 6 p.m. Should the undefeated team lose that contest, a winner-take-all championship game is set for June 6 (7 p.m.) for a berth in the NCAA Super Regionals.
