Right-handed pitcher Brandon Barker became the newest member of the Bowie Baysox when the Atlanta Braves traded him for lefty Brain Matusz May 23.
The Orioles picked up Barker, along with left-handed pitcher Trevor Belicek, in a deal that sent Matusz to the Braves. Atlanta then designated Matusz for assignment.
Barker, who was assigned to Atlanta March 11, had a 2.00 ERA with 40 strikeouts and a .217 opponents' batting average in 45 innings for the Double-A Mississippi Braves.
Barker said the vast number of pitchers in the Braves' organization may have prevented him from being properly recognized.
