WTCI Celebrates “Sisterhood” at Women Spanning the Globe Conference with Keynote Speaker Brooke Baldwin

4/19/21

250 women who left their jobs during pandemic to receive free entry to the conference featuring sessions with prominent speakers, workshops, masterclasses, networking and more

For 15 years, the World Trade Center Institute (WTCI)’s Women Spanning the Globe Leadership Conference has been a premier destination for curious, talented and ambitious professionals to gather, learn and network. This year, on Wednesday, June 9, 2021,from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the conference will be held virtually, offering the opportunity for women across the world to participate in the event and learn from unique and inspiring speakers.

This year’s theme, Finding Strength Through Sisterhood, was chosen to address how women in the workplace have been disproportionately affected by the global pandemic. Through the selection of speakers and industry leaders, WTCI will address the wide-ranging experiences working women have faced over the past year, while also celebrating their continued progress in the workplace. One of the ways in which WTCI will be supporting women who lost or left their jobs during the pandemic, is by offering free entry to 250 registrants. To claim this first come, first served opportunity, interested attendees can use the code SISTERHOOD at checkout.

In addition to providing access to world-class speakers and content, the WTCI team will be bringing fresh ideas to the 2021 Women Spanning the Globe Leadership Conference to make it even more engaging. With a keynote address from veteran journalist, CNN anchor, Peabody Award finalist and author, Brooke Baldwin, moderated by Monica Mitchell, the Vice President of Community Development at Wells Fargo, Baldwin will discuss “huddling,” when women lean on one another—in politics, Hollywood, activism, the arts, sports and everyday friendships. Like so many women in her field, Baldwin encountered many sharp elbows on her career path but became an early believer in adding more seats to the table and “huddling” with other women for strength and solidarity.

Co-CEO of World Trade Center Institute Susan Aplin said, “This event is always an amazing display of how women support and grow with one another. We’re thrilled to see so many women returning each year for captivating conversations and exciting experiences, as well as welcoming in new attendees.”

Last year's conference, which took place virtually due to the pandemic, set company-wide records for attendance and registrations, and was full of informative sessions with over 40 high-profile speakers. New this year, in addition to even more workshops and masterclass sessions, the conference will also feature multiple virtual networking opportunities. WTCI has developed an innovative program for attendees to setup person-to-person or group video conferences to network through options such as “The Purple Lounge,” a VIP-style backstage lounge for sponsors to meet and chat with keynote speaker Brooke Baldwin; “The Leader Lounge,” an exclusive afternoon networking meetup; a handful of general networking meetups throughout the day; a virtual networking luncheon where attendees can join a discussion group of their choice over lunch; and a virtual sponsor expo where attendees can take an online tour through sponsor “booths” and connect with vendors as well as other attendees.

Tickets for students and WTCI members are $25 and $50 for non-members. To learn more and to register for the event, visit www.wtci.org/wsglc/register.
