Maryland Confirms More Than 1,000 New COVID Cases for Second Day in Less Than a Week

Maryland health officials on Thursday confirmed more than 1,000 new COVID-19 cases for the second time in less than one week.

The state last recorded more than 1,000 new daily cases on March 13 with 1,101 cases. Before that, daily case numbers had remained below 1,000 since mid-February.

The average percentage of Marylanders who have tested positive for COVID-19 over the past seven-day period has risen above 4% after remaining below that mark for 26 consecutive days, state data showed on Thursday.
