Baltimore Tracks and Baltimore Digital Equality Coalition Host Virtual Career Fair to Bring More Diverse Talent into Technology

3/11/21

Baltimore Tracks, a coalition of companies and individuals focused on bringing people of color into the tech industry, is partnering with the Baltimore Digital Equality Coalition (BDEC) to hold a virtual career fair on March 16.

Companies throughout the Baltimore region, including Becton, Dickinson and Co., University of Maryland Medical System, and the U.S. Army plan to participate in the “Diversity in Tech Virtual Career Fair.”

They are looking to meet minority talent interested in careers in technology and are seeking individuals who are interested in entry-level positions, such as Help Desk operators as well as candidates with A+ and Network+ experience.

“The virtual career fair is an incredible opportunity for talented Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) applicants to break into the tech industry,” said Ed Mullin, Chief Information Officer at Think, a privately owned technology and operations advisory firm that provides on-the-ground transformation and consulting, and Executive Director of the Baltimore Robotics Center. “Some of the area’s biggest companies and government organizations are in need of talent and are excited about this job fair.”

“The virtual job fair is a great opportunity to connect with major organizations that are hiring,” added Geoff Stack, Managing Director at Per Scholas, which prepares adults with the technical and business skills to launch successful careers in technology. “Landing a job in tech is never easy, especially during a pandemic, but there are companies and organizations that have positions that need to be filled.”

The virtual career fair is supported by Johns Hopkins University and the Maryland Department of Labor.
