Tiffany Green now leads Operation HOPE’s financial literacy training for city’s residents

M&T Bank and Operation HOPE have appointed Tiffany Green the Financial Wellbeing Coach for Operation HOPE in Baltimore – a position that will allow her to provide much-needed financial literacy education and resources to residents of the city impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Launched in 2017, M&T's partnership with Operation HOPE provides credit and money management workshops as well as one-on-one coaching for those clients requesting personal assistance. These services, supported by a $100,000 donation from M&T, are offered to all community members, regardless of who they bank with. More than 1,000 Baltimore City residents have been served by the program.

“M&T recognizes the important role education plays in financial empowerment,” said Augie Chiasera, M&T’s regional president for Greater Baltimore. “Our partnership with Operation HOPE provides the community with resources to build a budget, establish savings, and achieve financial goals such as owning a home or saving for education.”

Operation HOPE provides its clients the fundamentals to accomplish three main objectives: increase savings; reduce debt; and increase their credit score. Through its credit and money management program, Operation HOPE helps to teach people the language of money and how to navigate credit and make better decisions with the money they have.

In her new role, Green will lead Operation HOPE’s clients through its credit and money management workshops to help them achieve financial stability. Green also will work with such organizations as Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Baltimore and the University of Maryland Baltimore’s new Community Engagement Center to provide financial literacy education to Baltimore residents.

“Through this partnership, we empower clients to create a better future by equipping them with the necessary tools to develop, plan, and achieve their financial goals,” Green said. “I strive to meet clients right where they are in order to connect them to resources that will help decrease their debt, while increasing their credit score and savings.”

Prior to joining Operation HOPE, Green served as the program coordinator for YouthWorks, where she spearheaded virtual job readiness and career exploration training for students preparing for life after graduating high school.

Green recently earned a Master of Public Administration with a specialization in Public and Nonprofit Management from the University of Baltimore. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

About Operation HOPE, Inc.

Since 1992, Operation HOPE has been moving America from civil rights to “silver rights” with the mission of making free enterprise and capitalism work for the underserved—disrupting poverty for millions of low and moderate-income youth and adults across the nation. Through our community uplift model, HOPE Inside, which received the 2016 Innovator of the Year recognition by American Banker magazine, Operation HOPE has served more than 4 million individuals and directed more than $3.2 billion in economic activity into disenfranchised communities—turning check-cashing customers into banking customers, renters into homeowners, small business dreamers into small business owners, minimum wage workers into living wage consumers, and uncertain disaster victims into financially empowered disaster survivors. Project 5117 is our multi-year four-pronged approach to combating economic inequality that aims to improve financial literacy, increase business role models and business internships for youth in underserved communities, and stabilize the American dream by boosting FICO scores. Operation HOPE recently received its seventh consecutive 4-star charity rating for fiscal management and commitment to transparency and accountability by the prestigious non-profit evaluator, Charity Navigator.
