With President Joe Biden issuing executive orders that expand immigration opportunities and appointing a diverse cabinet, the personal-finance website WalletHub today released its report on 2021’s Most & Least Ethnically Diverse Cities, as well as accompanying videos.

To identify the most ethnically diverse places in America, WalletHub compared more than 500 of the largest U.S. cities across three key metrics: ethnoracial diversity, linguistic diversity and birthplace diversity.

Key Stats

  • Oakland, California, has the highest racial and ethnic diversity, which is four times higher than in Hialeah, Florida, the city with the lowest.
  • Hialeah, Florida, has the highest concentration of Hispanic or Latino people, at 95.91 percent.
  • Saco, Maine, has the highest concentration of white people, at 94.79 percent.
  • Jackson, Mississippi, has the highest concentration of black people, at 81.97 percent.
