Bob Wallace
Baltimore mayoral candidate Bob Wallace, the first ever independent candidate to be on the ballot, released a new television advertisement, “Be Right Back” on Wednesday, September 23. In the ad, Wallace discusses his family roots, being raised as one of five boys in Cherry Hill to becoming the father of five children. Wallace has also been married for 42 years and is the grandfather of eight.
Wallace previously released his first television ad entitled, “Cherry Hill.”
“So many parents understand that pit in their stomach when our children say they are running out and will be right back,” Wallace said. “We are in a moment in our country and city where our children, especially Black boys, are at risk every time they leave the house. That is something my parents had to live with raising five boys in Cherry Hill and it is something I live with every day. I truly understand it and this is just one of the reasons I feel I am best qualified at this time to address the violence and create jobs in our city to ensure our children will, in fact, be right back.”
Over the last three mayoral cycles, polling consistently points to crime as the major concern for residents of the city. As a father and grandfather, Wallace is focused on driving down violent crime on day one while building an economy that creates more economic opportunity, especially for those who disproportionately represent victims of violent crime.
The ad was filmed by award-winning filmmaker, Derick Prince, of Da Vision Entertainment.
“Our Black boys are overrepresented in death and in prison in Baltimore,” Wallace said. “We must disrupt this school to prison pipeline and create a school to jobs pipeline. I am forever blessed that my brothers and I navigated through the challenges and built good lives for ourselves and our families, but so many families don’t have that opportunity and that must change.”
Wallace’s ad closes with three of his sons and two of his grandsons leaving out of the family home after a meal. His son and his grandson wave goodbye as they leave for the evening.
Wallace’s ads are available on his Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, and Twitter pages.
