In an effort to support social justice reform in Baltimore, the Ravens and The Stephen and Renee Bisciotti Foundation provided funds to 28 local organizations
Next One Up (NOU) announced today that they have received a portion of a $1M donation provided by the Baltimore Ravens and The Stephen and Renee Bisciotti Foundation. The two contributors combined their financial power to support several local, Baltimore-based organizations, all of which are participating in the fight for social justice reform.
"Our entire organization, including players past and present, is fully committed to creating social justice reform,” said Steve Bisciotti, owner of the Baltimore Ravens. “We will continue to seek out opportunities that support, encourage and defend those who are most in need.”
Just over a decade since its inception, NOU is demonstrating success with its programs:
- NOU now serves an active roster of over 100 young men in Baltimore City
- Current students attend over 45 different middle and high schools in the city, and participate in 350+ hours of Out-of-School Time (OST) programming each year.
- 100% of participants graduate high school on time
NOU was chosen as one of 28 local programs to receive funds from the combined contribution, with a player committee of current Ravens including Morgan Cox, Matthew Judon, Ronnie Stanley and Justin Tucker, as well as former Raven Torrey Smith, ultimately determining the recipients.
“A central goal of NOU is to empower scholar athletes by equipping them with knowledge and skills to succeed in their school communities and neighborhoods,” said James Fiore, chief operating officer at NOU. “This generous donation from the Baltimore Ravens and The Stephen and Renee Bisciotti Foundation gives NOU scholar athletes much-needed support as they become the next generation of leaders and agents of change for Baltimore City.”
