Maryland Resident Betty Hines Receives Award At WPO Annual Conference

8/7/20

Every year, the Women Presidents’ Organization Adrienne Hall Award for Breaking Down Barriers goes to a WPO member, Chapter Chair, organization, or sponsor – any stakeholder who has gone out of the way to collaborate with the organization, and to forge alliances that have proven helpful. This year’s award winner is WPO Greenbelt Chapter Chair Betty Hines, Founder and CEO, Betty Hines dba Women Elevating Women. The award was announced at the first Women Presidents’ Organization digital conference July 22–23, Reimagining Business (#WPOReimaginingBusiness).

Esteemed WPO Board Chair Adrienne Hall started the first women-owned advertising company in the United States. A strong advocate for women’s rights, Adrienne contributed to the success and growth of the WPO by making connections that still enable the organization to provide superior programming and continued expansion.

As a WPO Chapter Chair for 14 years, Betty Hines has proven herself an invaluable resource for innovative programming and making powerful connections to help the organization grow. Betty introduced a program to WPO, in partnership with 100 Black Men, honoring outstanding women of color for exceptional professional achievement as well as service to the community. Starting in Baltimore ten years ago, this event has since then been held in 23 cities.

As a business strategist/entrepreneur for 15 years, Betty Hines knows the value of making connections and building collaborations. She launched Women Elevating Women (W.E.W.) in 2018. The one-day virtual business conferences and W.E.W. Crew chapters provide a platform where multicultural women entrepreneurs and executives can come together to openly share and learn from each other, on how to scale their businesses and elevate their careers.

“Participants work together in ways that not only benefit them individually, but also collectively, to advance the role that multicultural women play in contributing to the health and sustainability of our economic landscape. This global group of multicultural women of color executives and entrepreneurs engages in business conversations and strategies based on my five pillars of success: Collaborate, Communicate, Connect, Cultivate, and Courage," said Betty Hines. “Adrienne Hall was a powerful inspiration and influence on me personally. A leader in every sense, she was masterful in building relationships and leveraging connections. Betty works tirelessly to forge partnerships and referrals for potential members and tirelessly promotes WPO wherever she goes. She fills her chapter easily, because of her fervent support of and belief in WPO. She takes her role of a Chapter Chair to heart and truly wants local business owners to succeed. She is a true champion, elevating multicultural women and helping to advance and grow the organization,” said Camille Burns, WPO Chief Executive Officer.
