Fitzsimmons will lead Ambu’s efforts to ensure compliance with state, federal and international tax law.
Ambu Inc., a rapidly growing medical device maker and pioneer of sterile, single-use endoscopes, has named Kellee Fitzsimmons Tax Director.
Fitzsimmons will lead Ambu’s efforts to ensure compliance with state, federal and international tax law, monitor current and impending changes to tax regulation and make the appropriate updates to policies and strategies. She will also watch legislative and regulatory tax law developments and provide guidance to the company leadership on potential impact on business operations and decision making.
“We are pleased to have added Kellee to our growing team at Ambu,” said Michael Bavonese, Ambu Inc.’s Chief Financial Officer. “She is highly talented and brings with her a broad range of experience and skills in state, federal and international tax.”
Prior to joining Ambu, Fitzsimmons was director of tax services at The Hoffman Group, a full-service accounting and consulting firm in Owings Mills, Md. She was also senior tax manager at Hitt & Co., a full-service accounting firm specializing in tax planning, attestation, business management and back office accounting support. Prior to that, Fitzsimmons was tax manager at Ameritox, Ltd., which provided enhanced technology testing services for healthcare providers. She also worked at Euler Hermes, North America’s oldest and largest trade credit insurer and a member of Allianz, where she was hired to bring the tax function in-house to gain control over the tax function and reduce reliance on outside providers.
Over her 23-year career, Fitzsimmons worked at several other public accounting firms in the Baltimore area, including one in the Big 4.
She earned Bachelor of Science Degree in accounting from Villa Julie College, now Stevenson University in 1997, and graduated Summa Cum Laude. She continued her education at the University of Baltimore, earning a Master of Taxation in 2001.
“I’m excited to be part of the finance team of Ambu and look forward to improving the overall tax compliance function and helping to reduce the company’s overall tax burden,” Fitzsimmons said.
Ambu launched the world’s first single-use flexible bronchoscope, the Ambu® aScope™ in 2009. Ten years later, in 2019, over 600,000 Ambu single-use endoscopes were used in more than 3,500 hospitals making Ambu the world’s largest supplier of single-use endoscopes.
