Medical Device Maker Ambu Promotes Patrick Hurley to Director of Marketing, GI

Hurley will lead the marketing efforts around Ambu’s new aScope Duodeno™, which is expected to be released this year.

Ambu Inc., a rapidly growing medical device maker and pioneer of sterile, single-use endoscopes, has named Patrick Hurley Director of Marketing, GI.

Hurley, who previously was Senior Marketing Manager, GI, will be leading Ambu’s marketing efforts in the U.S. for its new aScope Duodeno™, which is expected to be released in the second quarter of 2020.

“Patrick excels at building key relationships in the GI space and is making sure we are on track for a successful launch,” said Jens Kemp, Vice President of Marketing for Ambu. “We are continuously expanding the GI Marketing team and I am confident that Patrick will develop and grow the team in his new role. I look forward to working with him to successfully execute our US GI strategy and launch of a full portfolio of Upper and Lower GI flexible endoscopes alongside our rapidly growing GI sales organization.”

Ambu plans to unveil several new products in the next two years in addition to the aScope Duodeno™, including a new version of aScope Broncho™, and a single use colonoscope and gastroscope between 2020 and 2021. In three years’ time Ambu will have a portfolio that is relevant across millions of endoscopy procedures yearly.

Hurley joined Ambu in October 2018.He earned a Ph.D. in Biology from Wesleyan University with a specialization in neuroscience. He went on to postdoc at the National Institutes of Health. Prior to joining Ambu, Hurley was an engagement manager for a small consulting firm, continued his career at Baxter Healthcare as Senior Marketing Manager, and eventually joined Cochlear Americas where he was responsible for both upstream and downstream marketing in the bone conduction hearing devices and prosthetics division.

Ambu launched the world’s first single-use flexible bronchoscope, the Ambu® aScope™ in 2009. Ten years later, in 2019, over 600,000 Ambu single-use endoscopes were used in more than 3,500 hospitals making Ambu the world’s largest supplier of single-use endoscopes.
