Sinclair Broadcast Group Donates More Than 2,000 Protective Masks to American Red Cross

5/5/20

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, nonprofit organizations across the country are finding themselves in short supply of personal protective equipment for employees, volunteers and those they serve in the community.

Sinclair Broadcast Group {NASDAQ: SBGI}, a diversified media company and leading provider of local sports and news headquartered in Hunt Valley, MD, has donated more than 2,000 protective masks to the American Red Cross in Maryland.

After experiencing the challenge of successfully securing masks for thousands of Sinclair’s essential employees and news crews across the country, the group expanded its efforts to help the American Red Cross.

“During times of crises, we all have to do our part,” said Chris Ripley, President and CEO of Sinclair Broadcast Group. “We reached out to the American Red Cross to see how we could help provide some relief and getting extra masks was one way we could support an organization, like the Red Cross, that serves the public.”

The donated masks will be going to volunteers for the Red Cross, which will allow them to continue their vital work. A portion of the masks will also be distributed at military bases across Maryland.

In addition to the mask donations, Sinclair’s fundraising efforts of its local TV stations has raised nearly a million dollars for the Salvation Army for assistance relating to the current pandemic.
