Goodell DeVries is pleased to announce that M. Peggy Chu and Jared M. Green have been elected partners of the firm, effective January 1, 2020.

Peggy Chu concentrates her practice in the representation of individual and institutional health care providers against claims of medical negligence and related claims. She also represents other business entities and individuals in a wide variety of commercial matters, including breach of contract, fraud, business torts and general liability matters. In addition, she defends clients against claims of defective products, premises liability, employment discrimination and legal malpractice. Peggy handles all phases of complex litigation. She has prevailed on numerous dispositive motions and has repeatedly tried cases to defense verdicts.

Peggy regularly advises her health care clients on matters relating to peer review, credentialing, best practices and policies. She presents to health care providers, health system risk managers and claims representatives on a variety of pertinent topics including the preservation of electronic evidence, the confidentiality of medical records and transgender identification issues.

Peggy is a member of the Equal Justice Associates (EJA). Her past pro bono work includes representing an assisted living facility, advising law students and participating in the Open Doors to Federal Courts program.

She has been named a Maryland Super Lawyer Rising Star for Personal Injury - Medical Malpractice Defense every year from 2016 to 2020.

Jared Green is an experienced courtroom attorney who concentrates his practice on the defense of health care providers and institutions in cases of alleged medical negligence. He represents medical providers in a wide array of professional malpractice matters before the Health Care Alternative Dispute Resolution Office of Maryland, the Circuit Courts of Maryland and the Superior Court of Washington, D.C. He also provides representation for professionals before their professional licensing boards.

As a former prosecutor, Jared has particular experience in criminal matters and represents organizations in matters involving workplace violence, allegations of harassment and sexual and physical assault, and allegations of excessive use of force by security personnel.

To complement his legal practice, Jared is active in numerous industry and legal organizations. He is a member of the Maryland-D.C. Society for Healthcare Risk Management (MD-DC SHRM). He has served on the Judicial Selections Committee of Maryland Defense Counsel, Inc.; on the Government Enforcement and Corporate Compliance Committee of the Defense Research Institute (DRI); and on the Attorney Grievance Commission of Maryland's Peer Review Committee.

Jared has been named a Maryland Super Lawyers Rising Star for Personal Injury - Medical Malpractice: Defense in 2017, 2018 and 2020. In 2016 he was named a Top 10 Criminal Defense Attorney Under Age 40 by the National Academy of Criminal Defense Attorneys.
