Nelson Mullins announced today the expansion of its corporate practice in Baltimore with the addition of three attorneys: Matthew Huddle and Eric Smith as partners and Adam Scharff as an associate. The arrival of Smith and Scharff expands the office’s real estate component, while Huddle’s corporate and mergers and acquisitions experience will benefit clients in a variety of industries.

“We are pleased to add Matt, Eric, and Adam to our offerings in the Baltimore office,” said Baltimore Office Managing Partner Tim Hodge. “Their experience and skill in corporate, mergers and acquisitions, and real estate will boost our services to clients in Maryland and beyond.”

Smith, who joined the firm in 2014, returns to his native Baltimore from the Greenville, S.C. office. He focuses his practice on the acquisition, sale, leasing, and financing of commercial real estate. He earned his JD, magna cum laude, from the University of Maryland School of Law and a BA, cum laude, in international studies from Towson University.

“I am excited about the opportunity to join the talented attorneys in our Baltimore office and continue growing our real estate team in Maryland,” Smith said.

Huddle, who joins from DLA Piper, practices corporate and securities law with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and finance. His corporate experience includes advising private, public, foreign, and domestic clients in a variety of industries, including technology, life sciences, financial services, investment management, and chemical and products manufacturing from both the company/seller and investor/buyer perspectives. He earned his JD from the University of Baltimore School of Law and a BA in English from Colgate University.

“I look forward to working with the wonderful team in our Baltimore office and the firm at large. The future is looking very bright for Nelson Mullins’ corporate team,” Huddle said.

Scharff joins from Royston, Mueller, Mclean & Reid and concentrates his practice in a variety of business and commercial real estate transactions. He represents and advises individuals and businesses with general corporate matters. He also represents commercial real estate companies in real estate transactions and leasing. He has represented borrowers and lenders in loan financing transactions, including real estate loans, equipment loans, and commercial loans. He earned his JD, cum laude, from the University of Baltimore School of Law and a BA from Bates College.
