7/23/19

Amber Jackson

Miles & Stockbridge is pleased to announce that Amber Jackson, a labor and employment lawyer in the firm’s Baltimore office, has earned the National Bar Association’s (NBA) 40 Under 40 Award.

The award recognizes the nation’s top lawyers under age 40 who exemplify a broad range of high achievement in the legal field, including in advocacy, innovation, vision, leadership and overall legal and community involvement. Honorees represent a cross-section of legal professionals, all of whom are using their juris doctor degree in innovative and community impacting ways.

Jackson also was recognized this year by the Alliance of Black Women Attorneys of Maryland, Inc. with its Rising Star Award, which honors women who are leaders in the community.

Jackson, an associate in the Labor, Employment, Benefits & Immigration practice at Miles & Stockbridge, serves on the Character Committee of the Maryland State Board of Law Examiners, having been appointed by the Court of Appeals in 2016. She is serving a second term until August 2020.

As a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, Jackson has served on the Young Lawyers Section Council as Pro Bono Committee co-chair and as Charity Event co-chair. She was a member of the judicial nominations committee for the Alliance of Black Women Attorneys of Maryland for several years. She also volunteers her time to her local church and former music school.

In her practice at Miles & Stockbridge, Jackson represents employers in federal, state and local employment and labor litigation and administrative matters. She advises management through collective bargaining negotiations, grievances and unfair labor charges. She also provides counsel and training to clients on employment issues, including discrimination, harassment, wage and hour, hiring, termination, and federal and state compliance.

Jackson and other NBA 40 Under 40 recipients will be honored on July 24 at an awards gala during the NBA’s annual convention in New York. Last year, Venroy July, a Miles & Stockbridge principal, received the award.
