EveryMind is pleased to announce that ServingTogether Program Managers, Christy Kenady and Julie Riggs, have been named Top Mental Health First Aid® (MHFA) Instructors for 2018 and will receive special recognition at the Instructor Summit in Nashville on March 24. This title was awarded to Mental Health First Aid instructors who taught 500 or more First Aiders during the 2018 calendar year as well as those who taught to specific audiences through MHFA modules. In 2018, Christy and Julie brought the MHFA Military and Veteran module to network providers and community partners in Maryland, the District of Columbia and Northern Virginia.

Family members and personnel working with the military, veterans and their families are often not aware of how to engage veterans with mental illnesses and addictions. Mental Health First Aid training aims to increase mental health literacy and decrease stigmatizing attitudes in our communities. Like regular First Aid or CPR, Mental Health First Aid is designed to give people the skills to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis.
