Smith, Gildea & Schmidt, LLC, a regional law firm with offices in Towson and Baltimore, is pleased to announce that partner Michael DeHaven has been selected to Super Lawyers magazine for the field of law for 2019. DeHaven had previously been named to the Super Lawyers list from 2015-2018.

With more than 28 years of experience practicing law, DeHaven began his legal career in 1990 as an Assistant State’s Attorney for Baltimore County. Thereafter, he continued his practice by focusing on various forms of litigation, including representing members of the Maryland State Teacher’s Association accused of child abuse and then by handling multi-million dollar personal injury claims.
DeHaven has received numerous awards and recognition over the years, including finalist for the Best Family Law Practice in Baltimore in The Daily Record’s 2018 Reader Rankings Awards. He maintains an AV Rating with Martindale-Hubbell and has received a perfect (10/10) rating from AVVO.
He is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association (Family & Juvenile Law Section), the Baltimore County Bar Association and the Maryland Criminal Defense Attorneys Association. He is active in several community organizations, including the Immaculate Conception Parish, where he serves on the Board for the Parish School and coaches a CYO basketball team. He has also served the community in many other capacities, including as a member of the Board of Directors of the Martin J. Smith Foundation, which awards scholarships to local high school students; the Carroll Manor Recreation Council, where he coached and served as Commissioner of the soccer and basketball programs and was on baseball Board of Directors; and, the Greater Jacksonville Association.
