The Regional Manufacturing Institute of Maryland (RMI) has selected Notre Dame Preparatory School among its 2018 Champions of Manufacturing in the Emerging Leaders category. Notre Dame Prep was the only school, let alone the only girls school and only Catholic school, recognized by the RMI.
RMI’s Emerging Leaders category recognizes individuals or organizations who have made a dynamic impact on the future direction of the manufacturing industry. NDP received school-wide recognition (both for the Middle Level and Upper Level STEAM programs) for emerging leadership in the manufacturing area.
Specifically, NDP’s Middle Level project Carbon Footprint Fast was recognized for its excellence and leadership in this category. The Carbon Footprint Fast was held in NDP’s 180-student middle school during Lent 2018 and included activities such as reducing use of plastic utensils and increasing use of reusable containers. During the 40 days, it was estimated that reusable containers replaced 5,952 water bottles and 143.4 kilowatts of electricity were saved.
