Michael DeHaven
Smith, Gildea & Schmidt, LLC (SGS), a regional law firm with offices in Towson and Baltimore, is pleased to announce that partner Michael DeHaven has been named to the Immaculate Conception School Board. Located in Towson, Immaculate Conception educates children in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8.
With more than 28 years of experience practicing law, DeHaven began his legal career in 1990 as an Assistant State’s Attorney for Baltimore County. Thereafter, he continued his practice by focusing on various forms of litigation, including representing members of the Maryland State Teacher’s Association accused of child abuse and then by handling multi-million dollar personal injury claims. Currently his practice is focused on family law matters.
“I’m honored to be a part of the Immaculate Conception School Board with Father Barr and the team. I look forward to working together to make possible his vision for ICS and to help create an even brighter future for our students and their families,” said DeHaven.
He has received numerous awards and recognition over the years, including finalist for the Best Family Law Practice in Baltimore in The Daily Record’s 2018 Reader Rankings Awards. He maintains an AV Rating with Martindale-Hubbell; has been named to the Super Lawyers list of outstanding attorneys across the country by Super Lawyers magazine each year from 2015-2019; and, has received a perfect (10/10) rating from AVVO.
In addition to Immaculate Conception, DeHaven has been actively involved in several community organizations, including the Board of the Martin J. Smith Foundation, which awards scholarships to local high school students; the Carroll Manor Recreation Council, where he has served on the Board and as a Commissioner and Coach; and the Greater Jacksonville Association.
